About

The IDEA Club exists to support academic freedom for legitimate intellectual viewpoints in academia and the culture as a whole. It also encourages and facilitates civil discourse about the validity of intelligent design as an alternative scientific theory to materialistic evolution. The group is open to both supporters and dissenters of intelligent design theory. It is not affiliated with any religion or denomination, or any political party, and is open to students of all beliefs and backgrounds.

Few topics are as important or have implications as important as the origin of life. We encourage you to search all sides of the origins debate for yourself, and to start with the IDEA Club. You are welcomed to be involved with the IDEA Club’s weekly meetings and discussions, as well as the events we have planned for the spring at the University of Oklahoma. For more information, search the site, or contact Josh Malone and the IDEA Club at ouidea@gmail.com.

Who we are:

Josh Malone, president, is a sophomore at OU, majoring in Microbiology with Math and Chemistry minors. He hopes to pursue grad work in Biochemistry and one day be involved in research on protein evolution. He has loved broadening his understanding of the history and philosophy of science in the past year, and hopes to be able to apply much of that knowledge to current scientific disputes.

Blake Jenkins, Vice President, is a Sophomore at OU who plans to graduate with a degree in Letters along with a possible minor in Zoology. At OU, he has enjoyed learning about the History of Science, Biology,  and Intelligent Design. Blake is interested in the concept of finding marks of intelligence in biological systems, and desires an open discussion with holders of naturalistic perspectives.

Trevor Clark, secretary, is an OU sophomore who is currently pursuing a double major in Religious Studies and Professional Writing. As a follower of Jesus, Trevor believes it is a duty and a joy to be a person of integrity: intellectually and otherwise. He disagrees strongly with naturalistic principles but loves to talk with and learn from people of various worldviews.
